US stocks could see sharp volatility in the coming days as options contracts tied to trillions of dollars in securities are set to expire on Friday, removing a buffer that some say is keeping the S&P 500 index from tighter trading. Preventing getting out of range has helped. ,

$2.8 trillion of options contracts are due to expire during the quadruple witching event on Friday, according to data from Goldman Sachs Group GS.
