Hampton, Ga. , josh williams Parked his at the start/finish line and walked away from the vehicle after being ordered off the track by series officials during Saturday’s Xfinity Series race.

NASCAR summons Williams, team owner Mario Gosselin And crew chief Brian Berry went to the chain hauler to meet with officials.

Williams’ was damaged in a three-car crash that brought out a caution on lap 28. The Williams team taped up the damage but debris from the car brought out a caution on lap 32. NASCAR ordered Williams to the garage and out of the race. ,

Section 8.9.a of the Xfinity Series rule book gives NASCAR the power to a out of an event. The rule states:

“A NASCAR supervisory official may instruct a competitor to cease competing, leave the racing premises, or bring the vehicle to pit road and/or the garage area for a specified number of laps and/or a specified time penalty, practice, for the balance of qualifying, a qualifying race, a race, or a future NASCAR race, if it is necessary to do so in to promote the orderly operation of the NASCAR event(s). Such instruction shall be given only in exceptional circumstances, as directed by a NASCAR supervisory official It shall not be deemed to be a disqualification, suspension, or other “penalty” within the meaning of section 10 and disciplinary action is not appealable under that section.
