CBS will rely heavily on its roster of veteran series to start the 2023-24 TV season — though considering writers strikeAny lineup network that is released during the advance period should not be taken as a stone.
The network announced its fall schedule wednesday morning, nine days after the Writers Guild of America strike will push back the usual midsummer start of production on a host of scripted series if it continues for several more weeks. CBS has 17 scripted shows on its slate to open the season new plays elsbeth – A good wife / good fight spinoff starring Carrie Preston – and matlock (a reimagining of the 1986–95 courtroom show that stars Kathy Bates) joining the 15 returning series.

The network will opt for the fixture at the start of the 2023-24 season – whenever that may happen – with four nights (Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday) unchanged from the current season.
