Travolta introduced the segment and became emotional as he mentioned his late co-star and friend Newton-John, who died of metastatic breast cancer in August.

“They have touched our hearts. They have made us smile, and have become dear friends to whom we will forever be devoted,” said Travolta, barely getting out his last few words. “Hopelessly Devoted to You” is a song that Newton-John’s Sandy sings about Travolta’s Danny in the 1978 film.
