Black Friday is more than six months away, but football fans who don't enjoy in-person shopping now know which teams they'll get to see in the NFL's first Black Friday game: the new york Jets and miami dolphins.
The game scheduled for Friday, November 24 at 3 p.m. ET will feature newly traded Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa, who spent a portion of last season dealing with head injuries. Even though the game is being streamed on Amazon Prime (which requires a subscription), it will be free to stream for all, regardless of subscription status.
Black Friday games were first announced in October, just months into Amazon Prime's first season as the NFL's exclusive “Thursday Night Football” broadcaster. The NFL is looking for more holidays to make its own (they aired several games on Christmas Day 2022, which is traditionally a day off for NBA games), and after partnering with Amazon, Black Friday Putting a game on it – a “vacation” “that's exclusively about buying things – was a no brainer.
The Dolphins are playing at least one more specialty game during the 2023 season. The NFL announced Wednesday night that the Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs will play each other on Nov. 9 in Germany.
Eagles-Giants ready for Christmas Day
The NFL wants to make Christmas Day Football Day, so they are scheduling many games on December 25, the same as last year. In 2023, the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Giants will face off in a rematch of their 2022 NFC Divisional Game.
It's highly likely that the Eagles and Giants will play each other before Week 16 (after all they are divisional rivals), so all the “2022 NFC Divisional Playoff rematch” talk will happen until then. But families that have fans of both the Eagles and Giants may want to wrap up all their valuables before anyone arrives on Christmas Day.
The full NFL schedule will be released Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on NFL Network.
